Privacy Policy
Your trust matters. This policy explains how YANA handles your personal information.
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Overview
YANA ("You Are Not Alone") is a nonprofit peer-support community. We built this platform to connect moms with one another — not to harvest or sell your data. This privacy policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What information we collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and any profile details you choose to share (photo, city, life stage, kids' ages, lived experiences, bio, languages, faith, interests).
Connection data: When you request a match with a Support Mom or join a support group, we collect the details you share in that request, including messages exchanged after a connection is approved.
Form submissions: When you submit a group request, volunteer application, or other form, we collect the information you provide.
Usage data: We collect basic analytics about how you use the site (pages visited, interactions) to improve the platform. We do not track you across other websites.
How we use your information
To match you with support: Your profile details — like life stage, lived experiences, and location — are used to help you find a Support Mom or group that fits your situation.
To enable communication: Once a connection is approved, your contact information is shared with your matched Support Mom so you can communicate directly.
To improve the platform: We analyze aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand what features help moms most.
To keep the community safe: We review reports and flagged content to maintain a supportive, respectful environment.
What we share (and what we don't)
With your matched Support Mom: Once a connection request is approved, we share your name, email, and any contact details you provided so you can connect directly.
We do not sell your data: YANA is a nonprofit. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing.
Service providers: We use trusted third-party services for hosting, analytics, and email delivery. They only process data on our behalf and under strict confidentiality.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our community members.
Messages and connections
Messages sent through the platform are stored so both parties can reference their conversation. Messages are only visible to the sender and the recipient of that connection. YANA staff may review message content if a report is filed or if there are safety concerns.
Your rights
Access and update: You can view and edit your profile information at any time from your account settings.
Delete your account: You can request account deletion by contacting us. We will remove your profile and personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Withdraw consent: You can stop accepting connection requests or deactivate your Support Mom profile at any time.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the safety of our community seriously.
